Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for doubts to be raised about his position following another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the club's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got a lot of support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to turn it around and get a victory of course but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Response

The manager highlighted known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a spell such as this with outcomes like these.”

He finished, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to the top, prove again what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
