Acclaimed writer for children and entertainer David Walliams has been dropped by his longtime publishing house, according to an announcement.

An official for the firm commented: "After careful consideration, and following the appointment of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing any new titles by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the move was taken subsequent to an inquiry regarding claims about inappropriate behaviour involving women.

The firm did not confirm the specific rationale behind the move, stating: "We refrain from speaking about confidential company decisions."

A Prolific Literary Career

Walliams is one of the UK's most best-selling authors for kids, boasting over in excess of 60 million copies internationally in five dozen languages.

His first children's book, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins fifteen years ago.

Several of his titles, such as *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have also been adapted into TV movies.

His bibliography includes more than 40 books altogether, encompassing a festive story called *Santa & Son*, which was published by HarperCollins in October.

A Dual Career

His initial claim to fame came on the broadcast sketch program *Little Britain* and has additionally received National Television Awards for his duties as an arbiter on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE several years ago for his services to charity and the arts.

The publisher's decision comes after the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's recent CEO last fall.
