New information has come to light concerning the tragic demises of renowned director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their residence home on Sunday.

A Discovery

According to a report quoting a confidential source, a massage therapist scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the residence. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.

After gaining access to the house, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had gone with her promptly called 911. Subsequently, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Proceedings

The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now detained and is ineligible for bail.

Clarifications

The anonymous source challenged several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.

The source also refuted widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction includes descriptions of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.

Ongoing Inquiry Timeline

Per law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the state of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the family home. He was set to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not been medically cleared and would be unable to attend until Wednesday at the earliest.
