Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Premier League Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game victorious run was ended by Sunderland before the global break, however can the English top division leaders recover against north London rivals Spurs this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus AI, fans and a range of special visitors.

In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

The singer's new album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Soccer and Family Life

Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a star of multiple charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a player.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his spouse his partner have two children, Madison and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.

"I won't push football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their weekend soccer team," he said.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a period too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our team for two or three years and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for their star's return from fitness issues but their offense is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be quite close, though. Burnley are disciplined and their only home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

It smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they do look competitive again.

The Hammers' only on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno was previously that team's coach.

Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - can West Ham continuing their streak under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?

I will choose the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have impressed a few observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their past four games.

A family member told me to get Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had great success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at home. Brentford will try to hit them on the break but I think the home manager's team carry much more of a threat.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality proves to be quite tight. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six games.

They have got lots of talent in their team but it still seems like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.

Their display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.

However I am not do that. Rather, I really need to carry on going against the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive results because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be extremely eager for a good result, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a poor run... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough one to predict. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
