These charcoal drawings and watercolour studies will then be worked on in the workspace, with participants producing several interpretive scenes in acrylic paint to be exhibited in the village. Participants has exclusive access of the venue, which is built around an central patio and has a sun terrace with panoramic vistas over the hills. The cost includes five days of painting tuition; all meals; and an excursion to the local castle and other points of interest.

Ottolenghi-Inspired Culinary in the Algarve
This sun-drenched cooking retreat, located at a villa by the river in the inland Portuguese region, is inspired by the plant-based cuisine of renowned chefs. Participants will learn to produce meze spreads, attend a falafel-making workshop, perfect brunch dishes such as shakshuka, and make substantial main courses including spicy mushroom ragu and moussaka. There are visits to the local market and a local vineyard to sample Portuguese wines, along with leisure time for strolls by the Funcho River, to unwind on the deck or take a dip in the pool. The villa, a former farmhouse, has multiple rooms, as well as safari tents in the grounds.

Hip Hop in High Wycombe

St Ives is the perfect setting for a maritime music retreat. Guests will learn traditional shanties from a folk singer and vocal coach, and try their hand at writing their own. There will be vocal warmups, breathing exercises, performance tips and a closing performance. The holiday is held in a country house overlooking St Ives Bay. Full board are provided, such as a traditional tea on arrival, breakfast options, packed lunches and evening meals. Traditional rum, alas, is not included. Creative Writing in Crete
Author and tutor an experienced instructor leads the regular sessions on this writing retreat. He covers topics including plot, characters, setting and tension, to submitting work to agents. A co-host, the well-known writer Kate Mosse, will co-host special sessions at the beginning and end of the retreat. The holiday is held at a traditional complex in Vamos at the foot of the Lefka Ori – 10 one- and two-bedroom cottages are set around a central garden with a pool (non-writing partners are welcome to come along). The Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth runs a wide range of programs on eco-living: from creating habitats to making pallet furniture. This weekend course will help participants understand the fundamentals of beekeeping, study the biology of bees and learn about their ecological importance. It is designed to produce “bee-friendly beekeepers”. The weekend is also a opportunity to relax in the organization's sustainably managed forests, which are home to wildlife, otters, dormice, lesser horseshoe bats and uncommon bird species.
