Raducanu advanced to round three in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slam events in the current campaign.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has withdrawn from her remaining competitions in 2025 as a result of the illness that has affected her over the past 10 days.

The 22-year-old had planned to participate in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to recover ahead of launching plans for the 2026 season.

These plans are set to feature her coach Francisco Roig, as the pair will keep partnering for the upcoming season.

She required blood pressure checks while playing the initial match against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She needed once more medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to local wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the third set versus Zhu due to the lower back problem that has affected her at times this year.

Those results signaled a promising season, in which the player advanced into the top 30 globally for the first time since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

Raducanu had three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in the third stage in the Beijing tournament last month.

Raducanu won 28 matches this year and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her most impressive week was at March's Miami Open.

The British number one made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed on the way then falling in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth.

Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role in time for the US Open.

The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training block pencilled in in the coming months.

Raducanu told that her three-day trial with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she made the third stage prior to losing to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
