Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday evening. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the sports world shared condolences for the champion in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
